What are Credits and Usage Limits?
LandInsight uses two main types of allowances depending on the features you are using:
Account balance: a monetary balance held on your LandTech account, used to pay for purchases made within LandInsight. This includes Land Registry Title Registers and Title Plans (£7 each), Baseline Biodiversity Assessments by BNGAI, and other paid documents available in the platform.
OS Map views: a monthly allowance included in your subscription for accessing the highly accurate Ordnance Survey MasterMap™.
Note: Due to reduced demand, we no longer support OS Map Prints. If this is a feature you're interested in, please let us know. Simply: click 'Help & Support' in the top right of your screen and select 'Share some feedback' in the support ticket section.
How your account balance works
Your account balance is a pay-as-you-go credit pot that is drawn down each time you make a purchase within LandInsight. You can top it up at any time in advance, or the platform will prompt you to top up when you attempt a purchase without sufficient funds.
Checking your balance
Your current balance is visible in the dropdown menu under your initials avatar in the top right corner of the screen. Click your initials to see your balance alongside your plan details.
Topping up
Click your initials avatar in the top right corner of the screen
Select Billing management
Choose the amount you want to add to your balance
Click Pay with card and enter your payment details, or select a previously saved card
💡 LandTech Tip: If you attempt to purchase a document without sufficient balance, the platform will automatically prompt you with a link to top up. Make sure you have saved your site before navigating away to top up so you do not lose track of it.
Finding your purchased documents
Once a purchase is complete, your documents are accessible in two places:
Home: click Home in the top navigation bar and select the Purchased documents tab
The Assessor: open a saved site, click the Management panel, select Files, then Purchased
How OS Map views work
Ordnance Survey charges for every MasterMap™ view used. To keep costs predictable, your LandInsight plan includes a set monthly allowance of map views.
What counts as a view
One view equals rendering approximately one laptop-sized screen (technically 24 smaller map tiles). If you move the map or zoom in and out, additional tiles are loaded, which consumes more views.
When are views used
Views are only consumed when viewing the map zoomed in at the detailed property level. Zooming out to the town, city, or county level does not use your allowance.
Checking your remaining allowance
You can see how many OS Map views you have left in the bottom left corner of your screen. This number is only visible when you are actively in the OS Map view and will not appear in the Google Maps view.
Running out of views
If you exceed your monthly limit, the OS Map will automatically be disabled until your allowance resets the following month. You will not be automatically charged for going over your limit.
LandTech Tip: To preserve your OS Map allowance, use the free Google Street Map or Google Satellite Map for general browsing. Only switch to the OS Map when you have found a specific site and need the highest level of technical detail. You can also resize your browser window to reduce the map area on a large monitor, which loads fewer tiles and reduces view usage.
Plan availability
Topping up your account balance is available on all LandInsight plans.
OS Map view allowances vary by plan:
Plan | OS Map views |
Starter | 25 views per month |
Pro | 100 views per month |
Unlimited | 100 views per month by default (custom plans available) |
