Welcome to Step 1 of the Find and Assess phase: Adding Opportunities.
If you want to find brand new sites rather than add ones you already know about, head straight to Guide: Finding Opportunities.
This guide is for when you already have sites in mind. Whether you have sourced them from land agents, auctions, local adverts, or your own local knowledge, this guide covers how to get them into LandInsight quickly so you can start assessing them.
In this guide, we'll cover:
Adding sites by address search
Uploading a list of sites in bulk
Where your sites live
All sites you add to LandInsight are stored within a Workspace. Workspaces are shared containers that let your team organise sites, drawings, annotations, and letter batches around the way you actually work, whether that is by region, development type, client, or business unit.
When saving a site, it is added to the Workspace you currently have selected. You can move sites between Workspaces at any time from the site card or the kanban view in Sites.
To see your full pipeline across all Workspaces, go to Home using the button in the top left of the screen.
π‘ LandTech Tip: Before adding a batch of sites, make sure you have the right Workspace selected in the Workspace selector at the top left of the screen. This ensures your sites land in the correct place from the start, saving you from having to move them later.

1. Adding sites by address search
If you have a specific address or location in mind, the quickest way to add it is to search for it directly on the map.
How to use it:
Use the Search bar at the top of the map to search for an address or location
Click on the relevant parcel of land on the map to open The Assessor on the right of your screen
Click Save to add the site to your pipeline
Select your preferred pipeline stage and click Confirm
Once saved, the site is immediately available for assessment using all of LandInsight's data and tools.
π‘ LandTech Tip: Sites sourced from land agents, auctions, or local adverts often come with an address or postcode. Searching by address is the fastest way to get these into your pipeline and start assessing them straight away.
2. Uploading a list of sites in bulk
If you have a large number of sites to add at once, the Site Uploader lets you bring them all in at the same time by uploading a KML or Shapefile. This is particularly useful if you are migrating sites from another GIS platform, importing a batch from Google Earth, or loading a list prepared by your team.
Once uploaded, all your sites will appear in LandInsight at their precise locations, ready to be assessed immediately.
How to upload sites:
Go to Sites in the top navigation bar
Click Upload sites in the top right corner
Select the pipeline stage you want to assign your sites to
Drag and drop your file into the upload window, or click Select File to browse
Click Add sites to pipeline and wait for the system to process your file
Your sites will appear in your chosen pipeline stage within seconds.
π‘ LandTech Tip: Name your sites clearly in your GIS platform before exporting. LandInsight reads the site name from the file, so well-named sites in your KML or Shapefile will come through with clear, recognisable names. If no name is found, LandInsight will try to apply an address from ownership records. If no address is available, the site will be labelled 'untitled polygon'.
What's next?
Your sites are now in LandInsight and ready to assess. If you need to find additional opportunities beyond the sites you already know about, head to Guide: Finding Opportunities.
If you are ready to start sense-checking your sites, move on to Guide: Assessing Opportunities.
