It's important to know details about what's already at a location you might be interested in developing, or redeveloping - that's where property information comes in.

Watch our quick video tutorial, or read more below.

How to find Property Information

Property Information can be found in the Assessment panel on the right of your screen.

Whenever you select a site, the Assessment panel will appear. This panel contains a whole host of information, grouped by tabs (these tabs include: Planning History, Policies and Environmental).

Property Information can be found in the 'Details' tab. When you click Details, simply scroll down to find the Property Information section.

Where available, our property information data includes:

  • Use class

  • Property state

  • Property type

  • Rateable value

  • Building dimensions

  • Height of buildings

  • Listed building

  • Property EPC information

  • Any constraint information, like flood risk or protected land

This information is shown for all types of selections, not just ownership. That means it doesn't matter which layer or layer bundle you've selected in the Explore panel on the left.

Previously, you might have relied on our old property information experience to ascertain whether the land was in a protected area, had a flood risk, or had nearby listed buildings.

You can now find this information in the 'Constraints Summary' card, which will also be shown for all selections.

If you wish to view the nearby listed buildings, you can toggle on the nearby listed buildings layer which will provide access to these buildings.

EPC data

For properties where Energy Performance Certificate data is available, you'll see:

  • Current & potential energy ratings on an A-G scale, where A is most energy efficient

  • Current & potential energy efficiency scores on a scale of 1-100, based on energy cost

  • EPC inspection and expiry date

  • Property type and built form

  • Total floor area

  • Number of habitable rooms

  • Roof type

  • Construction age band

  • Tenure type

This data is sourced via the Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities and is updated on a monthly basis.

I’ve found an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) for a site, but the site’s details aren’t listed on LandInsight. Why not?

Almost all properties in the UK require an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) when they’re built, sold or rented.

These certificates are public, so you can find the information online. But, just because the information is public, doesn’t mean we're allowed to do what we want with it...

Why we can't show you the data

There are strict rules governing the data, and in the case of EPCs that includes rules that prevent us from using tools to access the information and put it to use on LandInsight.

We’re talking to central government about these kinds of restrictions, so if it ever changes we’ll be the first to know and start opening access to that information up for you.

Until we can, you can still find the details online free of charge by searching for a property’s address or directly by the EPC report reference number if you have it.

How to find sites using property information

With our site sourcing tool you can find parcels of land using information about the properties that are located on them.

Watch our tutorial below:

To do it, head to the Explore panel on the left.

From here, select the 'Search' tab and choose 'Property'.

Now, you'll have the ability to search for:

  • Specific use classes in an area

  • Filter by total floor area

Once you've entered your search criteria, click the search button and the properties will appear on the right side of your screen.

You can also simply move the map around to search in other areas.
