Projects is where you take a promising site further. Your site stays as it is, connected to its Project, and you can move between them at any time.
Create a Project
Open a saved site on the Map or in your Pipeline. If you haven't saved it yet, save it first.
Click Create Project.
Your Project builds on your saved site, with relevant details pre-filled in Overview and your Notes, Files and Activity kept in sync with the Site Assessor. Use your Project to plan and progress the opportunity, and switch back to the Site Assessor on the Map or in your Pipeline whenever you need assessment data.
Overview
When you enter Projects, you'll land on the Overview tab. Use it to enrich and categorise your Project with information about the opportunity, the intended development and the people involved, under Project details, Site, Use and Team.
Test its capacity with scheme design
Explore what could fit on your site by creating an indicative development layout. Draw access and exclusion areas to reflect site constraints and your assumptions, then create reusable Project Unit Types and place units. As you adjust the layout, see how each change affects capacity and mix, and review and export the accommodation schedule.
In your Project, open Scheme.
Add exclusion areas. Draw around land you want to exclude from development.
Add access. Draw routes into and through your scheme and set their width.
Place units. Create reusable Project Unit Types, then place units on the site and adjust the mix.
Both access and exclusion areas are deducted when calculating the developable area.
While you draw, a live dynamic preview shows how each change affects capacity and mix. Review the results in the Scheme dashboard, and review and export the accommodation schedule. You can change access, exclusion areas or units at any time.
Scheme design gives an early, indicative view to help you decide whether a site is worth taking further.
Organise the next steps
Tasks (new): a shared view of what needs doing, who owns it, its priority, deadline and progress.
Tasks starts empty. To add a starting list:
Go to Tasks and click the icon pictured below.
Choose a template, such as Resi development starter. This adds a list of typical actions for a residential site, from contacting the landowner to agreeing a deal.
Edit, add or delete tasks to suit how you work. Assign them, set priorities and set deadlines.
Templates let your team reuse a starting workflow and tailor it to each Project. You can also add tasks without a template, or save your own task list as a template to use in other Projects.
Notes (new): a shared record of findings, conversations and decisions, such as a call summary or a reason for a delay, so the reasoning behind the opportunity stays with it as it progresses. Search and pin notes to find them quickly. Notes are available in both the Site Assessor and your Project, with changes kept in sync.
Activity: the change log for your site from when it was first saved, including Notes, Tasks and their updates. Follow what changed and how the opportunity has progressed.
Build the evidence
Files: keep uploaded and purchased documents together.
Reports: order site reports and partner services, and access the Appraisal Tool (only available in the UK).
Funding: explore funding options for the Project (only available in the UK).
FAQs
Does creating a Project change my site? No. Your saved site is retained, and a Project extends it with tools to progress the opportunity. You can continue assessing the site in the Site Assessor.
Does scheme design work for non-residential sites? Yes. Scheme design is currently best suited to housebuilders developing lower-density schemes. A scheme can contain more than one development type: add units with different development types, and for mixed-use schemes the accommodation schedule is broken down by type.
Why is Tasks empty? Tasks starts empty in every new Project. Choose a template or add your own tasks.
Does deleting a task change the template? No. It removes the task from that Project's task list, without changing the template or tasks in other Projects.
Is Notes only in Projects? No. You can also add notes while assessing a site. Notes are available in both the Site Assessor and your Project, with changes kept in sync.
Who can see my Projects? Projects are visible to everyone in your LandInsight team. You can't share an individual Project with a specific person. If you share your Workspace, everyone you share it with can access all the Sites and Projects in it.
Where have my comments and site descriptions gone? Add new notes in the Notes section. Your previous comments remain in Activity, alongside new notes, tasks and their updates. Existing site descriptions from the old Management tab have been added to Notes and pinned at the top for reference.
